Absolutely. The friend's dream was more about the search and longing/desire, than the actual lovemaking. Sounds like a good book, I've ordered it, thanks for the recommendation. The Writing Goddesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14577032840574632179noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5497129389773629007.post-52321594791368338302011-01-29T21:15:33.175-08:002011-01-29T21:15:33.175-08:00I have a friend who confessed her erotic dream of ...I have a friend who confessed her erotic dream of making love with a complete stranger.

I think she was disappointed, when we looked it up, to find out the male stranger is her own "male energies" - drive, power, energy. That the dream was about her needing to become more connected with her own masculine side, to be more assertive.

Actually I'd think her dream isn't about needing to become more connected; it's a comment that she already is connected. Sex = union, assimilation, speaking, acting in unison, with one heart. If she needed to but wasn't quite there yet, I'd imagine she'd be looking for, or being attracted to, that beautiful stranger in the dream.

My favorite dream book is The Witches' Book of Dreams by Kari Ann Allrich. It's nicely grounded in Jungian sensibilities, and remarkably non-judgemental, since it's coming from a Pagan perspective, which, at the very least, is operating from outside the usual black/white duality stuff.

I love dreams, and dream interpretation. Always, always, though, the personal meaning of the symbol comes first. I mean there are of course some general archetypes and such; but it eventually comes down to what it means for you. Which is why I think a lot of the sort of standard dream interpretation books are rather less than useless.Thaliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09948272740932982138noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5497129389773629007.post-76397104329189868482011-01-27T11:19:15.276-08:002011-01-27T11:19:15.276-08:00@ Rosie - hmmm, never had the falling plane dream,...@ Rosie - hmmm, never had the falling plane dream, but I'm sure it's similar to the sinking ship in terms of "yikes, disaster, and there's nothing I can do about it!"The Writing Goddesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14577032840574632179noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5497129389773629007.post-54486933966191174012011-01-27T10:48:09.407-08:002011-01-27T10:48:09.407-08:00So interesting about the baby dream and your own r...So interesting about the baby dream and your own return to the novel. Also interesting about the sinking ship-- I used to dream of falling planes. I haven't had one of these dreams in years and I wonder if it is because I feel a little overwhelmed in my life. I've often dreamed of being pregnant, too, which means getting ready to give birth to an idea or new project.
